Don’t use a smartwatch or smart ring for blood glucose monitoring just yet

It suggests that patients do not buy devices for this purpose and instead continue to use traditional devices that require a patient to prick their skin.And the FDA makes a good point — individuals with diabetes rely heavily on accurate blood glucose measurements to manage their condition. Apple users are increasingly falling victim to malware, phishing, and viruses

By news@appleinsider.com (William Gallagher) In a report going over the state of malware in 2024, device management firm Jamf says that 9% of mobile users were caught by phishing, while 20% of companies were at risk because of bad smartphone configurations.Jamf logoJamf is a service for companies to manage devices such as iPhones, and it also operates a Jamf Lab that looks at security issues. It’s now issued an annual report about the safety and security of devices, specifically all smartphones.Overall, it claims that “40% of mobile users are running a device with known vulnerabilities,” and that “39% of organizations had at least one device” with such issues. The report typically refers to iOS and Android together, rather than breaking out any differences, but says this is because there are growing issues even with the iPhone. A critical Shortcuts vulnerability was fixed in iOS 17.3

These Shortcuts can be shared between users via a link, which can lead to widespread sharing of a malicious Shortcut.According to research performed by Bitdefender viewed by AppleInsider, an unsuspecting Shortcuts user could obtain a Shortcut that attacks a vulnerability in the Transparency, Consent, and Control (TCC) system meant to protect users from data theft. Typically, TCC prompts appear when an app or Shortcut attempts to access sensitive information or system resources, but the vulnerability bypassed this check.
