By news@appleinsider.com (William Gallagher) Apple Watch redesign rumors are on-again off-again, the iOS 16 beta keeps improving, and while the Apple Ring isn’t even out yet, Samsung is still not looking very original this week, all on the AppleInsider Podcast.Apple Watch Ultra frowning at how Samsung has been so very closely inspired by itIt’s possible that this is one of only a few places where you’ll hear Samsung’s latest event discussed — since even its new Smart Ring didn’t seem all that interesting. Host William Gallagher says that the only apparent development in Samsung’s phones is that “they upgraded the price.”But Samsung isn’t just having a poor year, it seems that Apple’s largest smartphone rival simply isn’t innovating any more. And Wes Hilliard thinks that’s extremely bad news for Apple, and for us. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums

Nearly every AT&T customer just had six months of call logs stolen

By news@appleinsider.com (Mike Wuerthele) AT&T has just disclosed another old data breach, with this one exposing nearly every customer’s phone call and text message records for a date range spanning six months in 2022.The company made the disclosure on Friday morning. The company is specific about what got stolen, and believes that the data lifted is not yet publicly available. Our investigation found that the downloaded data included phone call and text message records of nearly all of AT&T cellular customers from May 1, 2022 to October 31, 2022 as well as on January 2, 2023. These records identify other phone numbers that an AT&T wireless number interacted with during this time, including AT&T landline (home phone) customers. For a subset of the records, one or more cell site ID numbers associated with the interactions are also included. The breach goes further than just AT&T customers. Logitech MX Keys S review: Great typing feel and feature packed

By news@appleinsider.com (David Schloss) The Logitech MX Keys S is impressive and one of only a handful of third-party Mac keyboards that can truly compete against Apple’s Magic Keyboard. The Logitech MX Keys S is powerful, something most keyboards can’t say. The Logitech MX Keys S has an impressively responsive feel and, in my mind, a much better typing feel than Apple’s Magic Keyboard. It also has quality-of-life features that are missing from the Magic Keyboard.Keyboards with a Mac layout feel like a rare find, but Logitech has catered to the Mac user by offering a range of keyboards with the Mac’s particular modifier keys layout. While some “full-size” keyboards only have the control, command, and option keys on one side, this keyboard has them on both. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums

Apple is trying to reinvent group audio chat with no cell or WiFi needed

By news@appleinsider.com (David Schloss) Apple is developing technology that would allow any number of willing people in close proximity to start an audio chat, using only an iPhone and a headset like AirPods, with no WiFi or cell service needed.Using an iPhone and a headset, many people could talk with others nearby.Instantaneous communication like the Walkie-Talkie feature on the Apple Watch would be possible but with groups of people instead of individuals.Unlike the Walkie-Talkie feature, this new technology would eliminate the roundtrip to Apple’s cloud servers, a step that makes Walkie-Talkie unreliable at times. Also, unlike Walkie-Talkie, this would allow groups of willing people to talk to each other simultaneously. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums
